Ricardo Espinoza in Supplemental Education partnered wth Alex Yasbek, adjunct Engineering instructor at Cabrillo to build a custom standing desk for his office. This was a win-win - the cost of was just under $200.00 and Ricardo is happier at work.
Success! What is so exciting about the Makerspace Internship Program is the real experience. These are the challenges and processes of what I will be facing as I develop my own business and step into a career in this industry. The Makerspace Internship Program provided the networking that I didn’t have. I learned so much from the beginning of this experience, starting with client communication to develop a shared idea that is realistic to managing a budget, managing my time, and problem solving.
The 2018 Santa Cruz Mini Maker Faire was held at Cabrillo College on May 5th. There were over 50 exhibitors in all at the event. There were activities for everyone demonstrating both traditional and digital fabrication techniques. Among the faire’s highlights were a foundry pour, a marching pneumatic robot with furry bear ears, a sandbox that used colored light to create geographic land and seascapes, and creating name tags with laser cut stencils.
